FAQ for Molding & Trim Collection

FAQ

Are Formhaus moldings made from real hardwood?

Yes. All Formhaus moldings are crafted from solid hardwood, never veneer or MDF. Each piece is milled from premium lumber to highlight the wood’s natural grain and color.

Are your moldings sold finished or unfinished?

Our moldings are offered unfinished, allowing you to apply your preferred stain, oil, or clear coat to match your project’s finish or design palette.

Can I stain or finish the molding myself?

Absolutely. Each piece is ready for a custom finish. We recommend using a high-quality wood conditioner and testing stain samples on an offcut to achieve your desired tone.

Can I order samples before purchasing full-length pieces?

Yes. You can order hardwood samples from our Samples Collection to preview grain, tone, and finish before ordering.

How should I install solid wood molding?

Solid hardwood moldings should be acclimated to the installation environment before installation. Use standard finish nails or trim screws, and fill or sand as needed prior to finishing.

What lengths are available?

All Formhaus moldings are sold by the linear foot. Standard lengths typically range from 8' to 12', depending on stock and profile. Custom sizes and profiles can also be milled upon request based on wood species and availability.

Are the moldings finished or unfinished?

All profiles are available finished or unfinished. Choose a low-sheen, VOC-free clear finish for a ready-to-install option, or unfinished if you prefer to apply your own custom stain or finish.

Can these moldings be used for wainscoting or wall paneling?

Absolutely. Our profiles are ideal for wainscoting, cabinetry, and decorative wall trim, offering clean transitions and consistent grain across installations.

How are moldings sold?

All hardwood moldings and trim are sold by the linear foot, allowing flexibility for projects of any size.
