About us.
Formhaus is a custom hardwood fabricator in Farmingdale, New York. Four forms — tabletops, shelving, counters, and milled lumber — in ten species, configured exactly, priced live, and built in one shop.
Behind it is a team with years of milling, joining, and finishing solid wood for this region, carried into a narrow, exact promise: the configurator is the catalog, the price on screen is the price, and the wood does the talking.

The color is the wood.
You won’t find a stain menu here — not as a rule, but as a belief. The most beautiful color a board can wear is its own, and a finish should catch the essence of the wood — the depth, the figure, the way the tone shifts with the light — rather than write over it. So instead of offering one wood in many colors, we curated many woods, each in its own: ten species whose natural tones cover the whole spectrum, pale Hard Maple through the amber oaks and copper Mahogany to chocolate Walnut, near-black Wenge, and striped Macassar Ebony.
Choosing a color here means choosing the wood that isthat color — grain, character, and all — sealed in a clear coating that deepens what’s there instead of covering it. Stain work is a craft in its own right, and some projects truly call for it — a match to existing millwork runs through the custom path gladly. For everything else, the spectrum is the palette.
One shop
Every piece is milled, joined, finished, and crated under one roof in Farmingdale. No outsourced steps, no mystery middle — the hands that flatten the board finish it.
One engine
Every price is board footage times material, plus the same manufacturing value applied to every species equally. Choosing walnut over maple moves only the material line — the work is the work.
One published lead time
An estimate — currently 3–4 weeks, published in the header of every page and stated the same everywhere. When the shop calendar moves, the number moves with it, and the shop confirms the schedule with your order.
