Called African teak for over a century, and the nickname is earned where it counts: the same natural oils and decay resistance that made teak the outdoor benchmark, actually harder on the Janka scale (1,260 to teak's 1,070), at a board price you can build a patio's worth of tables from. Boatbuilders and benchmakers have leaned on Iroko for generations.
Fresh boards run yellow-gold and deepen to a rich brown with light and time — a wood that ages toward handsome. Outdoors it takes the classic teak choice: silver naturally to a driftwood grey, or oil it and keep the gold. If only true teak will do, the shop sources it as a custom order.
